Portfolio And P/l Explained
What does my Portfolio and P/L represent?

What Does My Portfolio and P/L Represent?

Your Portfolio represents the current total value of all the investments you hold in your Raseed account. It provides an updated overview of your investment holdings based on the latest available market prices.

Your portfolio value generally includes the combined market value of your stocks, ETFs, and any other eligible investment products held within your account. As market prices change throughout the trading day, your portfolio value will also increase or decrease accordingly.

P/L, which stands for Profit and Loss, shows how your investments have performed relative to your purchase price.

There are generally two types of P/L investors should understand:

  • •Unrealized P/L – The gain or loss on investments you currently own. These gains or losses remain unrealized until you sell the investment.
  • •Realized P/L – The actual profit or loss generated after you sell an investment.

For example, if you purchased shares worth $1,000 and their market value increases to $1,150, your unrealized P/L would show a gain of $150. If you later sell those shares at that price, the gain becomes realized.

It's important to remember that daily changes in P/L are a normal part of investing. Short-term price movements do not necessarily reflect the long-term performance or potential of an investment. Many experienced investors focus on their long-term financial goals rather than reacting to daily fluctuations.
